How Long Does Botox Last?
In general, Botox treatments last between 3 to 6 months. Several factors may affect the length of treatment, such as:
- The person’s age
- Their sex
- Their muscle mass
- The injection technique
- The dilution of the toxin
- The volume of the solution
- The positioning of the injection
It’s not unusual for first-timers to experience shorter results, followed by longer results after a second treatment.
However, regular users often notice longer results over time because their muscles begin to shrink.
As Botox neurotoxins begin to wear off over time, your nerves send contraction signals to your muscles again, bringing back those wrinkles and fine lines.
How long do Botox injections take?
The average Botox treatment is short, lasting less than 30 minutes. You could pop in during a lunch break for your procedure!
If it’s your first time, it may take longer, as we will need to explain things as we go through the procedure.
It is also possible to combine Botox treatment with a regular dental visit for added convenience. That way, no one has to know you’re getting Botox.
How long does it take for Botox to work?
Some of our patients have reported noticing results in as little as 24 to 48 hours.
However, you’ll more than likely experience the full effect in 10 to 14 days.
If you’re choosing Botox specifically for an event, it would be wise to talk with us as soon as possible (preferably 3 or 4 weeks prior). This’ll give us time for treatment and any adjustments you may need.

How often should I get Botox?
To maintain your youthful appearance and prevent additional signs of aging, you should seek retreatment as soon as you notice your wrinkles or fine lines reappearing.
Here at South Shore Prosthodontics, we recommend a three-month gap between treatments.
